The Krio Descendants Union Australia (KDU AUS) is a not-for-profit organisation registered in NSW, Australia. We unite to support and empower individuals of Krio origin in Australia and Sierra Leone.
This organisation is committed to fostering cultural connections, providing assistance, and promoting the wellbeing of our community members in both nations. Our by-laws govern our operations and guide our efforts to create positive change, preserve our heritage, and build a strong, supportive network for generations to come.
The purpose and mission of KDU Australia is to reconnect to our familial community, and to enhance the cultural heritage of the Krios of Sierra Leone through reflection, education, and charitable giving.
Our Goals:
Establishing and promoting Krio language literacy programs across Australia, offering classes, workshops, and resources for reading and writing skills development.
Organizing community events, celebrations, and cultural exchanges to foster and celebrate Krio traditions, language, and heritage in Australia.
Nurturing personal and professional growth of Sierra Leoneans in Australia through mentorship, networking opportunities, and skill-development programs.
Building bridges between Krios and other Australian communities, fostering cultural exchange, mutual respect, and friendships through diverse social events.
